SnagIt ROCKS!
I have been raving about SnagIt for years but, for the last year, I seem to use it everyday for some project that I'm working on. Whether for an email explanation or a blog post, I keep it open at all times--I just LOVE it! SnagIt is great for posting tutorials, demonstrations or 'how-tos.'
This week, I was contacted by someone from the marketing department of TechSmith, the software company that owns SnagIt. They wanted to be sure that they could use a couple of my posts in their newsletter this month! Shall I say I was honored?! Not only did they send me a copy of their newsletter (below) and give me permission to post it in my blog but, they are giving me a couple of licenses to give away to contest winners for our Local History and Area Events groups in exchange for using my articles in theirs! They also showed me how to SNAG, SnagIt!
Stay tuned for the posts with information on our group contests! We're cooking up something really exciting...
Here's the article that ran in the TechSmith (SnagIt) newsletter:
Then, they even answered my question about how to SNAG SNAGIT!
So, I thought something was missing on my SnagIt toolbar because I had no "Tools" option! I finally found the "Tools" menu in the Capture window and here's how to go from that point:
1. From your capture menu--not the edit menu page, select Tools
2. Select Program Preferences
3. Select Program Options
4. As he said above, unselect the box beside "Hide SnagIt before capturing"
Easy as 1-2-3-4!
Thanks TechSmith! I love my SnagIt tool and do appreciate the 'publicity' too!

Debe- That is awesome! I am glad that you were featured in the snagit newsletter. I have been using snagit for over a year now and use it for everything including listing tools for presentations.
I'm behind. This is the first time I've ever even heard of it. I'm anxious to use it. You're such a gem.
Interesting and informative. I've bookmarked your post for future reference.
Hey Debe, You are an amazing blogger and thouroughly deserving of this awesome spotlight. Congrats my friend~You Rock~
Hugs, Ginger
Hi Debe~ That is wonderful! I am so proud of you for being featured in their newsletter! I have heard of SnagIt from Katerina before, but I haven't had a chance to sit down and figure it out. I will do it soon. Thanks for the tips! What kind of fee do they charge for using it? Vickie
On a Mac you can just press Command + Shift +4 to take a "photo" of your desktop. I don't know what else snagit does because its not available for the Mac...
Hi Debe,
What a great honor to be featured in SnagIt's newsletter. I've learned so much from you already so please keep up the good work. Congrats again!
thanks for the tips very helpful

hmm, never heard of it. Maybe i will have to snag it and try it out?
Debe- I use SnagIt also. It's very easy to use. Congrats on the feature!
Great marketing promotion for your business and your skills. I'm very impressed.
Debe, YOU rock. Thanks for sharing. I missed your previous blog, so it's nice to see it on this one. I will definitely bookmark this blog.

Hi Debe, Congratulation on the feature! I am going to check it out. Thanks for the tip and I hope all is well at your house. Happy Holiday's.
Debe this kind of exposure is terrific! Congrats on being featured about snagit:)
Snagit is a great program, I would just caution people to make sure they check the copyright of things before snagging them for their personal use...I don't want anyone getting sued!
Congrats Debe on being featured in their article and thank you for the information on Snagit. I do need to take a look at this tool.
Congratulations on getting the attention. Just think, if you are getting their attention, what is your blog and reports doing for the buyers and sellers in your market? It shows them that you go to extra trouble just to give them data. Job well done!
Debe - congrats, putting out good content, relevant content, that gets lots of looks and comments gets attention. Keep it up.
Debe, way to go! Congratulations on being recognized in their newsletter. Makes you think, you never know who may be reading your blog. Good job!
Good Morning Debe! Thank you for sharing with us and Congrats!! I am bookmarking this one!
I signed up for the payed addition last week, tested in free for 30 days. I am still learning the product, it took me 7 tries to get the scrolling web site, but I finally got it. Then I posted it my outside blog for a search site as the WP.org doesn't allow the embedding on my blog. So I snagged it, and hot linked it to the search site.
It is a great tool, I just need more practise to do it quickly. I need to go back and read some of your and Katerina's tutorials.
Wonderful they found your posts, I gues they use Google Alerts too. LOL
I just started using the product - so far so good. I haven't incorporated it into my training tools - but that is how I plan to use it. Thanks for beating the Snagit drum.
Hi Debe, I have been so busy adding one more thing seems impossible...they I read your SnagIt post and darn....I have to add one more thing! Looks like it could save me time in the long run. Thanks for a great post...and congrats on the newsletter and feature, well deserved.
Nice! I saw in my inbox that I have an email from you. Will get to it tomorrow. Been working on BPOs and my vacationing agent friends REO phone calls :groan:
Very cool! I have used Snagit for quite some time -several months not sure how long. I think it is funny when I accidentally activate it!
Congratulations! I'm not surprised! You're blogs are always so professional written.
Debe:
I have to try it. It seems interesting. I not to clear on it application.
Richard

Trunda: Thank you! You're going to love it!
Ginger: Thanks, my friend, you're so sweet! I appreciate your support here as well!
Vickie: Aren't you so kind! Thank you! I don't think there is a fee--you purchase the license and own the software--I just know that mine was under $50. Check out the SnagIt link above and see what it costs.
Ruthmarie: Did you check recently? I'm curious to see if they've added a Mac version. If they do make one, you'll need to check it out!

Renee: We can chat when you're ready--or shoot me an email when you can! There's no emergency here!
Ken: Once you start using it, you'll probably leave it open all the time! It's an awesome tool!
Greg: Thank you--you're a sweetheart!
Richard: You can snag screenshots--not the entire page--to add to your emails, website or blog. Give it a shot!
Debe, you think Snagit rocks???? I think YOU ROCK!! Congratulations on the recognition!
Hi Linda! AHH, you are so incredibly sweet! In case you didn't know it yet, I think YOU rock!! ;-)
Hi Debe - I've read about others using Snagit, but just never took the time to explore it. I will now, with your explanations, and some of the other comments here! I've had some times when I really wish I'd had a program like this one, and have been frustrated. Today, I'll make it a point to give it a whirl.
Ann
Congratualtions Debe, what's not to like.. It's unbelievable. I probably only know 1/10 of what I could know, so I'm going to read your post thoroughly to learn more. Thanks
Debe, you are soooooo right about SnagIt. I am a virtual assistant and use it all the time. Sometimes to give a visual of a process I do for clients. I also use it to email my client's clients copies of where there listing will appear. (i.e. I use Postlets to create a flyer for Craigslist) so I will "snag" a copy of the Postlet flyer when complete to show the finished product. I can save the image in a wealth of formats.

This will be in the first NC Week in Review... hope to have it finished later this am!
Debe,
Thanks for the great suggestion. You always provide such helpful solutions.
Snagit is good and I used it for a long time. But my IT person recommended Fullshot; and I have to say it is far superior. I can't live without it!
Debe, this sounds like an amazing tool that I have NEVER heard of...where have I been? I will check it as soon as I can!! Thanks!!!!
I just started using it and I think it is fantastic! Very easy to understand and get going with quickly! Makes your market update posts look fabulous. Check out some of mine if you like.
A great tool. Looks like it's one of the first ones that I need. The step by step videos make a huge difference in ease of learning.
Hi Debe, Way to go! It's cool that they noticed your posts and even better that they used them! By the way, we really need to educate biz people, consumers and especially fellow 'Rainers that Realtor is ALWAYS w/ a cap R, better yet all caps since it is a registered trademark.

Snag It's a great tool. Like you, it's always open on my computer for easy access.
Debe, I've been using SnagIt for years. It is by far one of the best applications that ever came out and is very, very useful for real estate.
Debe, I saw you mentioned in the Snagit newsletter and it was nice to see you mentioned in AR. Very nice post! I've been using it for several months, but I still haven't figured out how to scroll down a webpage. I've got so many things going that require a learning curve... I feel barried!
Debe,
Great post! We have been using snagit for some time now and just upgraded to 9.1.
We use it to personalize our video emails. It has helped us in our communications, education and many other aspects of our sales and marketing.

I like this company -- I use a program called Camtasia that lets me record my computer sessions with voice or you can even record your powerpoint presentations with voice for emailinng or posting on youtube and other sites. I also use a screen capture tool called hypersnap that is easy and excellent to use.
This looks interesting. A little behind and feeling left out! What does it do?? Well I guess I will go to the website and check it out!
Ann: Give it a whirl and let us know what you think! I just love the program and the best part is how user-friendly it is!
Judy: Same here! There is much more to learn and know about the product--perhaps I should start doing tutorials on each of the functions of SnagIt?!
Robin: Glad to have a fellow SnagIt-lover! I do like that you can save in a variety of formats as well!
Elanor: Wow! Thank you--recognition for the recognition!! HA! I'm headed over to join your group in a bit too!
Richard: You're welcome and thank you very much!
Diane: I haven't heard of FullShot but, I've already embraced my SnagIt and don't feel a need to change at this point! Thanks for commenting!
Sonya: You'll wonder how you lived without it! Best of luck!
Lyn: I have and think they're great! I think that the tool saves me more time than anything that I use. I just love it!
Mike: You will love it! Good luck with it!
Marian: Thanks and I agree about the REALTOR thing! I was surprised that they 'found' my post and was humbled that they chose me to feature in their newsletter!
Christine: Way cool, isn't it?! I sent someone at a local magazine a sample of what I wanted the other day and she asked me how I did it--when I told her about SnagIt, she said she was going to tell everyone in her office--these are marketing and advertising folks! I was totally shocked that they didn't know about it yet!
Gabe: Yes it is and so have I--I remember reading a post here when I first joined last year, and thought that I was ahead of the game here because I had been using it for years! Not the case anymore--I've realized just how little I knew! But, the SnagIt is the feather in my cap! HA!
Bielenburg: I can't get that to work either and just need to read the directions, I guess! I too, am bombarded with all of this new technology and need to come up for air at some point!!
Thanks Don, I'll check it out!
Scott: Thanks for sharing--I'll have to check it out!
Sandy: Don't feel left out--just jump in with the rest of us who are using our floats in the Rain! This program is very user friendly and it won't consume alot of your time trying to figure it out! Good luck!
SnagIt, is that how everyone is getting pages captured to show tutorials in AR posts? I think this could be very useful, and I am definately going to check it out.
Hi Debe, "There is much more to learn and know about the product--perhaps I should start doing tutorials on each of the functions of SnagIt?!" Yes. There is an idea for several more of your awesome posts!
The Horse Girl ~ Marian
Troy: Yes, it is! I think this is my favorite tool because it is so user friendly, I enjoy teaching and their program is just what I need to put tutorials together! Check it out!
Marian: You are just a learnaholic, aren't you?! I love your passion and enthusiasm! Stay tuned, I may try to figure out one of the processes for those who don't know how to use it and for me as well!!
Hi Debe - I've read your other posts about Snagit and have it on my "to do" list. After reading this article I guess I'd better get moving on that. Congratulations on a great honor! It's a wonderful compliment to you to have Snagit include you as a feature in their newsletter.
Debe - thanks so much for the update. You are the one who turned me on to snag it and I love it (although I know there is much about I do not know yet). Thanks for the update, and congrats on being featured in their newsletter.
OOOOOOOOooOooOOooooOOOOohhhhhh!!!! I am going to have to check that out -- thanks for the great tip!
-James Wirth
Thanks for sharing, I downloaded a free 30 day trial, then it's 50.00. Is that traditional, or is it free at all somewhere else do you know?
Thanks - Amber
Snagit rocks and so do you, Debe! I'm going to have to go back and read some of your other posts. BTW, among the many features I love about Snagit, one that I use regularly is the ability to create a PDF file by "printing" to Snagit.
Debe, Thanks for the post Congrats on the feature.Happy holidays.
Hi Amber! The only thing that I know is that the 30-day trial version is free--I don't think the full version is free anywhere as you do have to purchase a license. You're going to LOVE it!
Debe:
Awesome post, love you blog page and the use of graphics and color.
Thanks Alan! SnagIt is alot of fun to use and as I'm not that creative, it makes me look like I am!!
Debe, I first learned about SnagIt right here on AR and love the features it offers. Thanks for some additional insights and congrats on your additional publicity as well. Take care and happy blogging!
Debe, Thanks for the post. Congratulations on the Feature. I will check out Snag It.Sounds Great.
I'm learning new stuff every day; good post
Jason: I don't remember where I first learned about it but, I've been using SnagIt for quite awhile! I've shared it with AR members so that they could see the benefits too! Glad to see that the word is spreading around to everyone! Happy blogging to you too...
Gita: Thanks! You will love it, I guarantee it!!
Terry: I can't think of ONE day here in the Rain that I didn't learn something! There are some mighty talented people here and I love the exposure!
I have days when I think I'm pretty tech savvy and then I have days that feel like I came from the stone age. Oh well........keep on plugging away. This looks very appealing.
Hi Chris! Thanks--I love learning the tech 'stuff' but, it IS very time consuming, isn't it?
Snagit is one of those AWESOME technology tools that NO ONE will be allowed to drag out of my cold dead hands. That and Tivo.
