The Carolina Panthers were added to the NFL as an expansion team in 1995. The Panthers nearly defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVIII, and seem to be the hot pick to win the NFC South each season. With a little luck in the injury department for the 2009 Carolina Panthers schedule, it would be no surprise at all to see them finally win the division again. Star wide receiver Steve Smith looks to lead the 2009 Carolina Panthers (affectionately known as the ‘Cardiac Cats’) to another NFL Playoff run at Bank of America Stadium--and this time, take it HOME! Carolina Panther tickets are guaranteed to allow you to see a contending team every year. See the most exciting team in the NFL, get your Panther tickets today! Charlotte is known as the birthplace of professional hockey in the South, and the Charlotte Checkers are proud to be part of that history. The Checkers, a member of the ECHL, are the affiliate of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League and the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. Following a 17-year hiatus from hockey, Charlotte welcomed the Checkers back in 1993. Since their return, the Checkers have made the playoffs nine times – highlighted by an ECHL Championship in 1996. Charlotte Checkers look to continue the tradition of exceeding the expectations of their fans by providing a family-oriented environment at home games, quality broadcasts and a commitment to the Charlotte community. With 36 home games filled with exciting hockey, fun promotions and great giveaways, the Charlotte Checkers have a ticket package to fit every budget. Great preview of Carolina sports Debe but I think your know where the real best sport town is don't you:)
Debe, Nice job! What a draw for all the sports fans out there but let's not forget the Browns :-(
You guys have some really big fans of NASCAR. Isn't that the #1 sport there in Charlotte? But I must admit you have a good array of sports for all.
This is a well written post. Looks like it is great place for sports fans.
Debe, as always this is a terrific post that should be a Localism feature. Charlotte sure appeals to me with all those sporting events.
Debe, I certainly hope you never have the kind of performance with your teams as we do in the DC area. Except for our soccer team, DC United and our hockey team, the Capitals our professional teams don't do well. Karen
Hi Bill! Yes--Charlotte, right?!!
Hi Barb! And, who are the Browns again?!! ;-)
Hi Don! Yes, we ARE! But, we have such a wide variety of sports here, there's something for everything!
Thanks Gita! We do have SO much to do here in the sporting arena!
Hi Ellie! Thank you so much! The city has appeal for sports fans, arts and music lovers, etc.
Hi Karen! We've had some 'down' years too but, we do keep hoping for perfect seasons each year from all of the teams!
Debe, I had no idea what avid sports fans were until I moved here. Not only do we have all of the great teams you mentioned but how about our local news channels covering high school and college football and basketball! When the sweet 16 arrive...watch out!
It sure was great watching our Panthers this year! When we came so close to beating the Giants at the end of the season, I thought we had a good shot to go a long way. Looking forward to next season!
Nice entry. Sports is often times neglected blogging material by agents.
Hi Debe....... nice article. i visited your website and i was wondering if you would not mind letting me know how you did the "map window" with the drop down car? no rush ....when you get a moment. thank you.
Debe... very nice post. I lived in Charlotte in the late 70's/early 80's, and always enjoy hearing more about your great city. The "Hornets" came into being when I was there... playing in the old Coliseum on Independence and wearing those snazzy "Alenander Julian-designed uniforms! You've come a long way , baby! I won't even say anything about the Hawks, Braves, Falcons or Thrashers! Cheers!
